emeco bench

The Emeco Navy Bench takes the original designed Emeco Chair from the 1940's and elongates the design to the size of a bench. The design was inspired by the way we perceive our environment through the objects around us. Using the concept of anamorphosis, most notably exemplified in The Ambassadors, a painting by Hans Holbein, the design is unaltered when viewed from a single vantage point, but as you move from that point, the design begins to be distorted, taking on a new form of a bench. The polished surface of the bench accentuates the distortion of the design by the reflection that is created on the surface. The bench is made of aluminum with an anodized finish.
