Antenna design for Knoll

Masamachi and Sigi from Antenna Design were at NeoCon this year to launch their new office furniture system for Knoll, called Antenna Workspaces. The system eschews the normal panel based cubicle system that Knoll is known for, instead promoting a more open office environment. Inspired by the designs and philosophy of Florence Knoll herself, Antenna wanted to bring the fun, openness and humanness of earlier office concepts back to the contemporary workspace, while staying within the bounds of a conventional office system.

international triennale of kogei

japanese designer nendo was invited to reinvent the interior of rifare - formerly a space leftover from a large bookstore - and transform it into an exhibition venue for the first international triennale of kogei in kanazawa, japan.
the brief for the project was to leave the existing space, more or less intact, without placing any drastic changes within the interior. nendo's response was to set-up five pre-fabricated agricultural greenhouses made of plastic within the venue which would act as individual gallery spaces. the lighting used to highlight the work inside would emanate from the translucent plastic walls, turning the greenhouses into large 'illuminated lanterns' with paths of black stapled carpets running throughout the exhibition venue, acting as 'trails'.

oscar zieta limited

in continuation of his work with inflatable steel, polish designer oscar zieta showcased his latest collection 'zieta limited ' at the karena schuessler gallery during DMY international design festival berlin 2010. 'zieta limited' is a section of zieta prozessdesign’s products made out of inox steel, brass, copper or coated with teflon.

RICHMOND SHELF

An elegant wall accent made of American hardwood. This shelf seems to float on the wall as a result of its non-visible hardware. This design combines traditional woodworking techniques with contemporary manufacturing methods. The shelf can be hung at different levels to serve different purposes such as eye level and taller shelving, as a unique waist level console, or hung low as a shallow bedside platform for a lamp and alarm clock. The design is protected with a hand applied durable oil finish which captures the raw beauty of the wood’s grain.

CUMBERLAND LAMPS

A pure and simple abstraction of a classic lamp form. This design is hand blown by experienced artisans using traditional glass working methods in a hot glass studio also known as a ‘hot shop’. After the glass cools the piece is hand worked with wet grinding wheels and the electrical parts installed. Cumberland emits pleasant ambient light which illuminates the beauty of the handmade design and its surroundings.
