the hinterland house

The clients’ accommodation needs were : Living/dining/kitchen core – Clients’ separate bedroom suite – Separate studio & study – Separate guest accommodation. font table

Designed by Italian designer Alessandro Canepa & Andrea Paulicelli, a new concept in modular furniture FONTABLE is a series of alphanumeric elements reproducing letters A-Z in lower and uppercase and numbers 0-9.
The graphic, 3 dimensional ‘type’ becomes the protagonist of a new language in design which is both versatile and eclectic, allowing us to shape our environment in ever evolving and surprising ways.
Produced in a small atelier outside of Milan under the supervision of Alessandro & Andrea the tables are made from steel sheet with lacquered varnishing in white, black and red.  Legs are in anodized aluminum and are height adjustable, allowing overlap of table surfaces.

beached house bkk architects

Entering this home begins with the decision to leave the city. The recurring ritual that plays out in the journey to the holiday home is integral to the conception of this house: the car and its contained interior; the stop off for provisions in the last town before arrival; getting out and unchaining the entry gate before driving onto the site; the wall that confronts them, the view denied; the welcoming gesture of the front portal wedge; and the final release to the view as one enters the main living spaces.

matchstick light

designers own words:
'… I was fascinated by the possibility of having a bright, usable light derived from an unexpected form and material –
namely 3/4″ sticks of maple. high quality stainless steel machine screws and wing nuts complete the utilitarian aesthetic,
while the red cord and red stained dimmer at the tip of the light suggest further purpose and inner power.
the lamp's simple outer form hides the complexities of its manufacturing. each light is milled from one solid maple blank.
the sticks of maple are comprised of two separate halves, with all components and wiring sealed inside.
the light is an exploration of how a CNC mill can expand and enhance the capabilities of the maker; allowing them to create
something that would be impossible, or at least unreasonable, to create entirely by hand.'

Built for a married couple and their two cats, the residence’s architecture is based on the idea of cats and humans living together, sharing the same space. this is not a house.

Dentist Mattias Fierbiger chose the space for his new dental office; an old dancing studio in a historical art deco building. The space had high ceilings with magnificent stucco detailing and beautiful oak wood flooring. Though Dr. Fierbiger had a vision for his soon to be office, he decided to call in design enthusiasts Peter Ippolito and Gunter Fleitz of Ippolito Fleitz Group to take charge of the interiors.

ripolles manrique

spanish studio teo hidalgo nácher has created 'ripolles-manrique' a multi-unit home for two matrimonial friends.
the site is surrounded by pine trees on an isolated estate that began being built in the seventies, near the town of
benicassim in castellon, spain. what really stands out about its location is the views. the plot, with its steep slopes
and irregular geometry, is situated on top of a hill overlooking the sea in the montornés neighborhood.
its main access point is down a public road leading from above. the project was born out of this difficult terrain which,
rather than proving problematic, helped guide the architect’s work. following the edges of the plot’s perimeter,
the two houses are joined together as one. the layout aims to make the most of the available space and complies with
building regulations dictating minimum space distances from the edges of the plot – three meters from the eastern edge
and five from the western.
