Laver House by Kennedy Nolan
Kennedy Nolan’s interiors are beautifully composed. The palette of textured cream surfaces bolstered by the purity of white makes for an impeccably calming and satisfying field of vision. Limed timber joinery is soft and warm and embraces me throughout the house, and is often bevelled and off-grid, so as to promote a meandering line throughout the building, creating spaces and objects to explore and touch. Strong sculptural elements appear where they are most useful and enjoyed. In a playful chess-like stand-off, an oversized timber cruciform column at the edge of the kitchen is the internal ballast to the external brick fireplace and wood store in the adjacent courtyard.

Modern Log Homes
Log homes and cabins have been constructed for centuries and now modern homes are using logs for their own design interpretation. Some are using firewood logs stacked along exterior walls as decoration and some use wood logs as a permanent exterior facade.

plera lamp
Meant to express minimalism at the same time as showing the difference between the soft touch of the wood and the cold touch of porcelain. Elegant and classy meets friendly and warm. It is the upside-down tunnel to loveliness. Diameter: 19cm H17 cm. Seems like there might be a move toward porcelain in industrial design as of late, yes? I get that feeling. It’s such a fragile material, but there’s nothing really quite like it when it comes to feel and grace in appearance.

levitating house
The Tellada House seems to be levitating at a first glance. This is actually a visual illusion – the house maintains the slope of the land, while blending in with the natural environment, with trees that bring shade and comfort. Eco-friendly features earned it the prize from Juan de Vega Foundation. The Spanish designers from Rosales and Crecente Architects created this home in the forest from wood, the basic material for the exterior of the house, as well as the surrounding area. Placed in a small forest of oak, birch and chestnut trees, the Tellada House surprises with its modern appearance that amazingly fits right in.
