velvet chair

Sand & Birch this time goes back to its first and most successful inspiration, and presents a new interpretation of a concept that made this young italian studio known by public: just like the famous Velvet Sofa, this Velvet Chair takes its shape from the idea of a ribbon three times wrapped on itself.
Thanks to its slenderness due to the absence of arms, and its thin size, Velvet Chair perfectly and elegantly fits in every place of your home.

Velvet Chair's structure is made of curved wood, and covering is available in three different versions: velvet, cotton or microfibre. Dim: H90xW59xD95cm

KiBiSi's Brick Couch

Sold. My boys at KiBiSi designed this Brick couch as part of a series for Versus.
KiBiSi set out to make a sofa with strong architectural references since KiBiSi partner Bjarke Ingels couldn’t really find the right architect’s sofa for his apartment. The point of departure was a classic brick bond forming the cushion pattern. The cushions are tied together and fixed with a tailor quality button. The button, also designed by KiBiSi, is molded of fiber concrete – Yet another architectural reference.

Remodeled Quonset Hut

Architects Michael and Jane Frederick recently won the Best Before and After Southern Home Award for 2009 with their remodeled quonset hut. The home had been built by a World War II veteran.  Quonset huts were favored by the U.S. military during WWII because they required small amounts of masonry and metal to construct and were easy to build.  The Fredericks were planning on leveling their quonset hut after purchasing it but decided to remodel after learning how much it meant to the community.  The final product is a modern, vibrant space with a hint of an earlier era.

A Doll House for Clementine

A Doll House for Clementine is a modern approach to the standard parallel floor and ceilings doll house.  Designed by TDO Architecture, the doll house's separate levels are connected by a series of angled ramps and light wells.  It can also open up to allow for users to become more engulfed in the doll house's experience.  Once closed, the doll house can be used as a soft glowing lamp with a flip of a switch.

Fragile Future Chandelier

This chandelier, known as Fragile Future III, expresses the difficult balance between technology and nature.  LED's surrounded by actual dandelion heads floating within the structure make this a breath-taking piece.
