milk series

The milk series were a response to an investigation into value, looking at what makes something valuable, with a view to create furniture which embodies longevity. I created 3 pieces of contemporary furniture with imbued value. They have been made using Ash and each piece has been etched with a pattern detail on the underside, which pays homage to its humble roots as well as adding a touch of humour. The construction of the legs make reference to traditional craft techniques with a contemporary twist.

buying art online

More and more people are getting comfortable about buying art online. In the early days of the Internet, potential art buyers were hesitant, fearing fraud and worrying about transaction safety. Moreover, images and descriptions were often too wanting in quality to serve as a reliable fundament for judgement. The market has matured and a more professional corps of sellers is addressing a public growing increasingly comfortable. Collectors have discovered the advantages of the Internet market place and the future seems bright for online transactions. As for pricing, the virtual market has natural limits that make most people unwilling to buy at the price levels they would consider in traditional venues. Today, the online limit seems to correspond to the7500 dollar/5000 Euro ceiling that a number of international art fairs have been maintaining to prone the concept of 'affordable art'. One may safely predict that online transactions of art will continue to gain market share and especially in this price segment. It becomes important to familiarise oneself with the possible drawbacks of this promising trade.

benschneider photography

Ben had a very early introduction to art and photography, and was always supported in his interests. His father was a commercial photographer and teacher, his mother a painter and sculptor. Ben grew up in Colorado, in remarkable natural surroundings, and frequent hikes led him to a genuine appreciation of the interplay between light and landscape. He was aware that he wanted to develop his craft in order to portray that interplay in his photographic images.

stirling

This family house in Redfern is currently on-site (2009) The form of the house was driven almost entirely by the height scale and topography of the surrounding urban context and of course the Client’s requirements. Clad in Grey Bark, the house makes reference to the timber clad cottage that sat on the site previously. The house includes a three storey space, with a rumpus room under the roof.

Northwest Peach Farm by Bates Masi Architects

Imagery of a home named “Northwest Peach Farm” conjures a mental picture of more “simpler times.” When there was a porch swing, yellow curtains hanging in the window, handmade by Grandma and a rusty play set in the front yard. Well, the architects at Bates Masi Architects have taken that idea and flipped it right on it’s head- the Northwest Peach Farm home they’ve designed is a modern, contemporary designed home in the middle of East Hampton, New York.
